The Creative Accelerator Perth programme finished in December and Caroline gained so many tools to use moving forwards and was exposed to numerous opportunities to work with experts in their fields. A hugely motivating and great start to this innovation journey! Working alongside other creative founders meant we were able to support each other too across the three months and it will be exciting to watch their progress in the future. The finale was the showcase pitch on 13 December in front of an invited audience in the Theatre at AK Bell Library – brilliant atmosphere and support for everything that Elevator UK is working towards. And yes, I did pitch in my running gear! Caroline is now working hard behind the scenes to implement everything learned and bring this concept of an idea to fruition.
Caroline attended an Export Bootcamp day in Glasgow on 23 January organised by Scottish Enterprise. Wow! There are so many key things to consider as a business before branching out to European or International markets, and it was also very useful to learn about the many common pitfalls to avoid. Topics covered included Market Analysis & Research, Market Entry & Development and a first go at developing an Export Plan. Facilitators were excellent and very knowledgeable with lots of case studies referred to, putting everything into context.
We also managed to submit our application to Interface, the knowledge connection for business at the end of January – the application is shared across Universities in Scotland in the hope that there will be an academic interest in supporting Making Sport Fit with our business challenge. The challenge for us at this particular time is to gather more research around the problem – we should know soon if any interest has been registered. And support from Scottish Enterprise is good to go.
Our application to trademark the Making Sport Fit logo was approved and registered in October so we have been working with the designer, Contrastica over the last few weeks to update our branding accordingly. It’s looking good!
